in Home Decoration

A properly lit home is necessary for many reasons. It not only makes the home seem alive, but it also brightens up the home. It can emphasize the good points of the room and take attention away from areas you don’t like. But lighting goes beyond that, it can bring a good energy into the home. Here are a few home lighting tips with feng shui that can help you utilize that energy.

It is said that with Feng Shui, lighting helps with the chi energy. Chi energy needs to be balanced and lighting is part of that balance, keeping yin and yang on equal footing. Windows can bring in light to the home but when there are not enough windows or not enough lighting coming through, something else is needed. Lamps can help to activate the energy and promote the chi balance in a home when properly placed.

Placement of lighting is very important. Each direction activates a certain balance in energy and when lighting is placed in specific places in a home it can add extra energy into certain areas of your life. When an area of your life needs activated or extra energy into it, putting lights in a certain area can enhance the energy of that specific area of your life.

Placing a bright light on the south of a room that faces up and illuminates a specific area that highlights your goals or an object that symbolizes your goals is said to bring fame. A vertical rectangular light represents upward growth and this can activate wealth in your life in the southeast side of the room. Whereas in relationships, a small decorative lamp with greens or pinks represents growth and love, placed on the southwest side in a bedroom or living room is ideal for that.

The north can help with career, especially when a medium light is used with a blue lampshade or if possible a blue light. When travel and helpful people need to be activated, a spotlight or globe lamp in the northwest keeps the energy moving in that direction. A small lamp that spotlights work like a desk lamp is good for knowledge and should be used in the northeast area.

Family is an important part of balance; a balanced family creates a balanced home. To help promote the warmth and closeness in a family a light on the east side of a room should be used. The family room is the ideal place for this and even a fireplace can be the source of that energy and light as it promotes warmth and energy with Feng Shui.

When focus is needed on creativity and children, lighting in the west should be used. Unique lights in a family room or in a child’s bedroom will activate the energy needed, be creative with silly lights in those rooms. Medium lighting should be used so as not to over activate the energy or the children.

Every area of life can benefit from proper lighting and the proper use of lighting and lamps. Decorating with the idea of the right feng shui solution can help incorporate the right balance of chi energy, keeping the yin and yang balanced in a home. A little extra of light in one part of a home is sometimes all that is needed to activate energy in certain areas of one’s life.
